Site Dedication

After eight years with a presence on the web, the old website was becoming long in the tooth. What was considered cute in 1999, now appeared old and frail in 2008. The increased complexity of this new website has many improved features over the old. I had what could only be called writer's block as the new replacement site remained stalled since the summer of 2006. My writer's block disappeared this summer with the injury of my future son in law.

The replacement website is dedicated to David Schrauger and my oldest daughter Kathryn. David's example and sacrifice followed by his perseverance during his lengthy recovery from the explosion on the battlefield of Iraq enabled me to finish this website. The courage that my daughter has shown, watching her mature in such a short time during that continued recovery effort forced me to put off all excuses and complete this website. Watching David's will to recover and live with his injuries is an inspiration for us all.

While David continued to suffer during the long months of summer and autumn 2007, he lost his two younger brothers in a tragic automobile accident on September 29th, 2007. Others might have been shaken and directionless. It is not the storm that matters; it is how one copes in that storm that counts. The sudden loss of two more loved ones only deepened the closeness that we share with the Schrauger family. The funeral also brought a community together, opening their arms and embracing the Schrauger clan.

Yesterday, a family who had suffered through so much turned that corner and witnessed the joy of marriage. I watched transfixed as any dad would, the marriage of my daughter to David on November 25, 2007. With his arm still wrapped in what only could be called a Transformer device, David and Katie bravely took their vows and formed a new union. The joy of the marriage was interrupted briefly as David was again reminded of his recovery ahead during the reception as his arm throbbed and his head pounded from the recent fusion of his elbow and continued treatment. Their road to continued recovery will be long one, but it will be a journey taken together.

I learned that there is more to life than material gain and this new site is a labor of love. My goal is to provide a means to help other fellow homeschoolers. It is a small sacrifice of time and effort after witnessing far more from others. It is through this sacrifice of others that we can call America our home. Some of us will be reminded of that sacrifice for years to come.

Sincerely,

Scott Welliver

About us

Since 1990 we have been homeschooling. We have four girls, Katie 22, Kassie, 20, Alisha 17, and Amelia 11. It has been a joy to have them with us and watch them grow and mature. We have found the teens years to be a wonderful time in which the girls really have blossomed into unique, mature young ladies seeking the Lord's will for their lives and striving to follow Him. Like all families we have had our trials, but the Lord has been faithful and provided the strength and encouragement when needed to continue on. We look forward to many more years of homeschooling as we have a ways to go before our youngest graduates.

As a homeschooling family we understand the need for reasonably priced educational materials. Our goal since has always been to help other homeschooling families by provided these materials at a price they can afford. We have also strived to give as much helpful information and the best service we possibly can.

Once we started homeschooling the phone began to rang with calls from other families, asking us to help them getting started in homeschool. At first we did not know much ourselves but gave as much information and we could and help them find and select curriculum. It did not take long for us to realize there was a need for someone in the area to sell curriculum. This lead us to starting a used textbook business in 1992. We started with one bookcase in our garage and have over the years grown considerably. Now we work out of our pole barn which is full of books, floor to rafters. Since starting our business, Nancy has been ministering to other homeschool families in variety of ways, selling used and new curriculum, consulting, conducting workshops, organizing homeschool conferences, and working as homeschool consultant for Mott Media.

Over the years we have seen another need, one for a low cost way for other homeschoolers to sell their own books in order to maximize the amount they get for their used books. As a dealer we have business cost to pay and therefore can not pay as much for the books as an individual can selling them themselves. However, although there are many venues for those selling their own books, many of them are hard to use, have high fees, or are frustrating for the buyer to us. Scott decided what was needed was to rewrite our site so that individuals can sell their own books on our site. Our customers become their customers. Our search features make it easy to find the book needed which means the sellers will be able to sell more books. Our listing fee is low, so the seller gets to keep more of the money they make. If has taken a couple of years to finally bring his vision into reality. We are excited to now have this service available.

Please enjoy using our site. If you have any comments about our site or ideas on how to make it better, we would love to hear from you.
